Flying dragon (Draco volans) - Danum valley

The unusual flying fauna of Borneo includes a number of species of squirrels, lizards, frogs and snakes. These animals have developed special membranes on each side of the body that enable them to glide across the forest environment. The best adaptation to gliding is shown by colugos (Cynocephalus variegatus), also known as flying lemurs, which can be seen flying up to 150 metres between the trees.
