Flying dragon (Draco volans) - Danum valley

The unusual flying fauna of Borneo includes different species of animals such as squirrels, lizards, frogs and even snakes. These species have developed special membranes on each side of the body that enables them to glide across the forest environment. The best adaptation to gliding is that shown by the colugo (Cynocephalus variegatus), also known as flying lemur, which has been seen flying for 150 metres between trees.
